Quit the Gym and Set Up Own Home Gym?

Exercising, Personal, The Core

Last Updated on July 21, 2021

Recently, I sat down and calculated my monthly commitments and finances. And I made the decision that the gym membership had to go. Every month, to pay the amount and hardly visiting the gym (because I have been either too busy or tired- yep I know, the usual excuses 🙂 )- makes it impractical to maintain the membership.  Still, I remain physically active especially with cleaning the house and decluttering.

Being a person committed to exercising for years now (with or without the gym, I still take the stairs daily at work), I would still need to purchase some equipment to help me to work on my core and also some cardio activity. In my area it is not really safe to go and exercise early in the morning.

So I visited Fitness Concept and check out the items that they have available:

Already I had bought the Swiss Ball from them and I have the stepper, medicine balls and resistance  band/tubes. Thought of getting a rebounder as I remember reading few years ago from the book The Fat Flush Fitness Plan that a rebounder is a beneficial because it helps the liver to detox. They have the brand from Trax and Reebok- but after trying to bounce on them, I noticed that Reebok rebounder or trampoline is sturdier…of course the price is even more sturdy (RM200 plus for a smaller size one)

Below are some sample exercises that can be performed on the trampoline (you can click on the picture to enlarge it):

Another item that I plan to get is the kettlebell since they do not sell medicine ball with the handle. Would be doing more research to see if the exercises are suited before making my buying decision (kettlebell cost about RM150- RM300 depending on the weight).
