Are you are caffeine addict who also happened to be constantly having running nose or sinuses?
If you cannot wake up without your morning cuppa and have evolved from the normal coffee into gourmet coffee of strong doses- lattes, espressos, moccas, cappuccinos, etc- watch the changes in your body.
Do you notice that your body felt cold inside? What I mean is that the insides felt cold. And you tend to have sinus outbreaks or uncontrollable running nose? Do you sometimes have body pain as well?
Just last week, I had a terrible episode of running nose- I was sneezing non stop the entire day and my nose was as red as a reindeer. With the H1N1 outbreak, I was naturally concerned.
But I knew I was not suffering from flu, neither do I have cough or fever. I only know the insides of my body felt very cold. I put on a jacket and felt slightly better but on and off the running nose came back. After I went back home, I made sure I ate only light dinner, drink lots of water and ate some fruits. Then I slept early- with socks on my feet.
When I awoke the next morning, I felt slightly better. I was puzzled because I used to experience these long sneezing sessions but it had stopped for a long time. And now, it seemed to come back.
Then it struck me- the gourmet coffee. In my previous job, I used to spend a lot of money buying gourmet coffee (lattes). After I left the job, I hardly drank gourmet coffee for about a year- and I hardly had any sinus outbreak.
Now in my current job, I discovered that our company actually have a machine where you can press for espresso or cappuccino. Being the coffee addict I am, naturally I helped myself to the machine twice a day. Because I had been travelling during end of August and had not been getting enough rest and sleep the past week, the condition flared up.
After I stopped taking expresso or cappucino, the running nose subside. I took back the normal 3-in-1 coffee that does not have such strong dosage.
Therefore, the next time you wonder why you are constantly sniffing or having running nose, with some body aches, instead of popping pills, consider cutting down on gourmet coffee and see if the condition improves.
Personally, my philosophy is not to take medication unless I have to. If I can treat my running nose or headache with rest, isotonic drinks, lots of water and fruits, I will do so. I will save the medication for me to take when I am travelling and have no choice but to opt for quick kills.
This will ensure that if I am on the road and have a nasty headache, paracetamol will work instead of having to resort to ponstan or stronger painkillers (if you have the habit of going for quick kills, eventually you will need stronger dosage of medication for it to work).
