8 Ways to Detox Electromagnetic Energies from Your Body

with one comment

Every day, we are exposed to electromagnetic rays from the electrical gadgets that we are exposed to as computers, handphones, TV. Our body constantly absorb radio signals and satellite transmission - so long as you live in town, these conditions are inevitable.

Have you experience the sensation when you touch a friend, your friend felt a small current going through his body? It could mean that perhaps, you are storing too much of these electromagnetic currents in your body and on the long run, it’s not healthy.

Our body conducts electricity and electromagnetic rays- very much like a tree does. That is why if we are strike by lighting, like the tree, electricity will use our body as the path to move towards the ground. And why do people find talking walks along jungle trails or places with lots of trees are soothing and make them feel rejuvenated? Not only it is due to the relaxed green colour that the eyes see, but our contact with nature and breathing in healthy air helps our body to feel rejuvenated. Therefore, I still believe that handphones and putting headphones in your ears connected to handphones, IPOD, MP3 are bad for your health in the long run.

This static and tiny particles of electric charges causes stress to your body cells and in turn, can contribute to emotional stress (which always happen when your body is feeling ‘one kind’). Therefore, it is important that you learn to detox these static energies from your body as often as you could.

Relieve Running Nose/ Sinus with Acupressure

without comments

From young, I had always suffer from sinusitis. When I was schooling, I used to wake up with running nose and I remembered my mom will take some cold medication back for me. After feeling very sleepy and struggling hard to stay awake (as the effect of some of the medication), I’ve decided to stop taking it and use tissues instead.

I’ve constantly have recurring episodes of sinus, especially during house cleaning. And I’ve learned to use the more expensive durable 3 layer tissue instead of the customarily 2 ply for my running nose. About 2 weeks ago, I was suffering from constant occurances of the running nose and my dustin was fast filling up with wet tissues (and I refused medication)- so I decided to do a few experiment myself:

1. Drink lots of water

I drank insanely lots of water- gulping down about 2 glasses of water in one sitting. I did it from morning till evening.

2. Acupressure

I did some research to find out the acupressure points to clear the ‘wind’ and damp elements from my nose. Refer to the picture below-not my face but it’s taken from a photo from the net :)

with one comment

Having pains in your stomach you are unable to relieve after a few days? The sharp pain felt as though wind is trapped in your stomach? Aside from ensuring that you be well behaved and just discipline yourself to eat apples or oranges first thing in the morning & keep away from iced drinks, you can also try another quick pain relief. This is especially if you are outside and about and unable to do anything.

Treating ‘wind in the stomach’ with simple acupressure:

Objective: You need to press the acupressure point located 2 thumbwidth from your wrist.

The acupressure point is to relief congestion in the chest and stomach area. It also helps with travelling sickness.

How Effective is Massage Chairs in Relieving Pain?

without comments

Massage chairs are heavily promoted in the health industry. In Malaysia, a massage chair from a reputable brand costs from RM7000 to over RM10000.  Celebrity endorsement of the brand and huge advertisement banners are costly- so logically, the chair will have to be very expensive in order to meet the cost.

The advertising media has been trying to convince people that massage chair are quick fixes for all types of chronic problems and pain. In order to bring the message home- advertisements pull at heartstrings when the message send across during Mother & Father’s Day promotion: ‘your parents have worked hard for you all their lives and now they’re old. They’re in pain. Why not you get them a massage chair?’. And pictures of happy elderly parents enjoying the massage chair convinces you to fork out almost 10k (payable back in installments) just to get a massage chair for them.

How effective is massage chairs?

Massage chair is supposed to mimic the movements of a masseur- and supposedly enable a person to save on the long term of treatments. The lower end one basically just move lightly at your back where the higher end ones have more function such as adjustable speed, massage at the lower back, knees, head and feet. Those little extra features can set you back easily for about an additional 5k to 6k.  Still, no matter how convincing the advertisement is, what I fail to understand is why do I see these massage chairs lying around houses like white elephants- and they really do occupy a lot of space. Why do people stop using them after a while if they are really that good and effective?

Care for the Feet

without comments

There is quite an interesting article in Yahoo Health that talks about the common myths and truths about our feet.

Example, wearing flip flops may not be the best option. Well, all podiatrists will surely agree that high heels are bad for your feet, knees, back and posture especially if typically worn for long hours.

Diabetics will need to take special care of both feet and as such, going barefoot is a bad bad idea.

Still, for most, I believe going barefoot on the earth is good for your health. Most of the time, we walk on concrete or tiles. We spent our lives surrounded by electronic gadgets such as computer, TV, MP3 and mobile phones. Our bodies will absorb ions due to the proximity and the hours that we spent exposed to these items.

As such, we need to neutralise the effect by standing on the real earth. Try doing that in the morning before the sun comes up, when the air is fresh and cooling. Step on the real earth and swing your hands back and forth.

By swinging your hands back and forth (in front and back direction), you can clear meridian blockages along your hand and the surrounding area of your torso. I tried that one day when I was not feeling well and immediately felt better (from the swinging and having my bare feet with direct contact of the earth in my garden).

Quackwatch- a site exposing cancer cure frauds

without comments

From Hee Boon’s blog, I discovered another site which discusses in detail about dubious alternative treatments to cancer. The post A Special Message to Cancer Patients Seeking “Alternative” Treatments makes an interesting read.

The site is operated by Stephen Barrett, M.D who aims to expose various frauds and quacks started by people with so-called cures. It’s true, there are many treatments out there that claimed to be able to cure cancer- and after the patient spends lots of money, eventually died from failure to seek conventional treatment. The site documents findings from verified sources on various alternative cancer treatments and how it had been proven not to work such as:

  • Vitamin C by Linus Pauling- Despite saying that taking mega doses (way exceeding the recommended dietary intake) will help fight cancer, both Pauling and his wife eventually died from cancer
  • Macrobiotic diet- Special diet consisting of lots of bean products, the founder’s wife eventually died of bone cancer

If you suffer from cancer and are considering alternative treatments, read the findings above before making your decision.

Having said that, I still believe that variouscomplimentary healing, that does not interfere with conventional treatment will help in the journey to battle/prevent cancer such as:

  • qi gong & energy healing
  • adequent exercise for improved blood circulation and a boost in immune system
  • change in diet (not necessary vegetarian or organic) but a well balanced diet
  • most important of all, a positive attitude and attempt to remove other stressors in life forgive past hurts and settle whatever that has been bothering you

A New Revelation Brings Hope to My Early Stage of Osteoarthritis

with one comment

I started develop very strong interest in subject of health and fitness, after experiencing first hand the benefits from proper eating and exercising in eliminating certain chronic conditions. As you would invariably notice from the various health related topics from this blog, I am really committed in sharing as much information as I can to benefit others who suffers from any health related issues. On every health issue posted here, I’ve known at least one person whom I care about who are suffering from the ailment.

From exercising and eating, I am now exploring another possibility- energy healing. What made me belief that energy healing works is because it relieved the current condition that I am on the early stage of osteoarthritis- characterized by the decrease in synovial fluid on my right knee. As the result, my right knee creaked a lot each time I bend and straighten it.

Previously, it was painful but once I started adding aerobic exercise and weight training, as well as making some dietary changes, the pain got to very minimal. But try as I do, I could not ignore the unnerving ‘creaking’ sound that my right knee makes each time I do a ‘front kick’ motion while being seated. It’s scary but to my knowledge, there is no cure for osteoarthritis.

Then, a wise 79 old friend of mine came over to my home for a visit. She has been doing healing for many years, using traditional Malay, Chinese and Indian methods that were taught by her father, who was a healer. Even at the age of 79, she is very healthy and worked day and night.
